Southcentral (Anchorage/Fairbanks) Based Tour Departures
(matches with many Southbound Cruises well)
Discover Denali -5 Day/4 Night
This 5 day/4 night tour travels round trip Anchorage and highlights Denali National Park with travel via motor coach and rail.
Day 1 -
On own arrival into the Anchorage International Airport. Utilize hotel courtesy shuttle for

Day 2 -
Narrated motorcoach tour to Denali National Park. Just outside of Anchorage heavy birch
forests lead to the spectacular Knik and Matanuska Rivers. Along the route, keep an eye out for
wildlife. Upon arrival into Denali, meet your tour director who will assist with check in and
provide information on included and optional activities. Overnight Denali. (Meals: B)
Day 3 -
The Tundra Wilderness Tour offers the best chance to spot wildlife in their natural setting.
Traveling the Park road system 53 miles into the heart of the pristine wilderness allows for
potential sighting of moose, bear, Dall sheep, caribou and other critters. Be on the look out for
spectacular Mt. McKinley, standing 20,320 feet high. The naturalist provides narrative on
history and geography of Denali. Tour time is dependent on road traffic, animal sightings and
timing of frequent scenic photo & restroom stops. Note: May & September tours are shortened due
to road conditions. Overnight Denali. (Meals: B, SBM)
Day 4 -
Enjoy a morning of leisure for on own exploration. On board the Alaska Railroad, travel
through Broad Pass and at 2,363 feet, it’s the highest point on the railroad and where caribou
migrate through each fall. Near Talkeetna, the first view emerges of North America’s highest
peak, Mt. McKinley. The rail features large, comfortable and reclining seats (more appealing
than first-class airline seats!); large picture windows at every seat offer prime views; a shared
vista dome car; full & light dining options; and narration by local student guide. Alaskans
recommend enjoying a leisurely meal on board as the spectacular scenery unfolds from every
picture window. The railroad is known for their relaxed atmosphere that encourages interaction
in the spacious environment of a classic railcar. Overnight in Anchorage. (Meals: B)
Day 5 -
Discover Anchorage – a town that popped up along the banks of Ship Creek as a tent city back
in 1915. With rich history in rail and road transportation; natural resources like oil and gas; and
amenities like fine dining, shopping and entertainment- Anchorage offers a big city feel in a
small town atmosphere. Included visit to the Alaska Native Heritage Center, a gathering place
that celebrates, perpetuates and shares Alaska Native cultures. Afternoon courtesy transfer to
the airport or cruise center in downtown Anchorage. (Meals: B)
