At Tyee Travel we specialize
in bringing you to the real Alaska - the entire great state. Here is a sample of how we can plan an itinerary
to these popular destinations.
Day 1
Depart Seattle to Wrangell on the morning jet flight, 1 stop Ketchikan,
no plane change. 3 nights at a bed and breakfast with a water view. Your hosts will pick you up at the airport
and transfer you.
Day 2
Anan Bear Observatory trip. 5 - 6 hour excursion (July - August).
Travel in a covered jet boat, exploring the shoreline along
the way - about 1 hr and 15 min travel each way. Spend approximately
3 hours watching bears as they fish for food in Anan Creek.
Visitors are escorted in and back to the boat by a guide that
will stay with you on the viewing platform. Groups sizes are
generally 6, with a maximum of 11. Bring a lunch, beverages
provided. (although no food allowed is up the trail, you can
eat on the boat)

Day
3
Stikine River Jet Boat Adventure. 5 -6 hour excursion.
Depart in the morning for a fun-filled day of adventure on the Stikine
River. Enjoy the captain's tails of Gold Rush lore, Native history and
colorful local stories along this beautifully scenic and exciting ride.
Travel to Shakes Glacier, clear water tributaries, main river and anywhere
else the river water level allows. 5 - 6 hours. Bring a lunch, beverages
provided.
Day 4
Depart Wrangell for Petersburg via the Alaska Marine Highway
ferry. Check in with the hotel or bed and breakfast.
Enjoy Petersburg the afternoon. Walk the docks and view the
commercial-fishing fleet at work.
Day 5
Whale watching (8 Hours) OR LeCont'e Wilderness trip
(5-6 Hours) with Kaleidoscope Cruises, beverages included. Capt. Bracken is a naturalist
and biologist and knowledgeable of the area. Snack provided.
Day 6, 7, 8
Petersburg to Juneau via Alaska Airlines jet service. 3 nights Bed and Breakfast and car rental. Afternoon
and next two days free to enjoy the many things Juneau has to
offer. Hiking trails are within walking distance from downtown
(although it is an uphill walk to the trailhead) but with a
car rental, you can go to Mendenhall Glacier, Shrine of St.
Therese and more of the "out" areas in Juneau
Day 9
Juneau to Gustavus by small plane leaving
late morning. You will be met and transferred
to the The Glacier Bay Country Inn. Enjoy a leisurely afternoon
in Gustavus, the town in Glacier Bay National Park. Overnight
at the Glacier Bay Country Inn Bed and Breakfast, all
meals are included here as well as transfers. At 7:00am, take
the full day cruise into Glacier Bay, return at
approx. 4pm and transfer to the airport for your charter flight
to Skagway.
Day 10
Skagway, Overnight at the White House Bed and Breakfast.
Beautifully rebuilt to its original splendour. Skagway Air will
transfer you to the B&B.
Day 11
Morning departure on the White Pass and Yukon Route historic
train trip to the summit. Thousands of miners used this
corridor to reach the gold fields of the Klondike. Departs at
8:30am, returns at 11:30am (This has an incredible view!) Check in 25 minutes prior.
Day 12
Afternoon departure for Seward, via Juneau. Take
a small commuter plane to Juneau and an Alaska Airlines jet to Anchorage.
Upon arrival
in Anchorage pick up an AVIS full size car - 5 days reserved,
returning past the 24 hr mark of the 4th day. Drive 1 1/2 hr
- 2 hrs to Seward, this is a very scenic drive on the Seward
Highway to Seward. Spend 2 nights in Seward at a downtown Inn.
Explore all that Seward has to offer. Seward is small, homey
and easy to explore. Enjoy the new Sealife Center and take a
drive to Exit Glacier.
Day 13
Ididaride Sled Dog kennel tour and ride. Arrive
at 9:15am or 9:30am 1 hour and 15 minute tour. Load up in a
sled pulled by 12 dogs for tour to the mountains and back to
the kennel to see the puppies(!)
Day 14,15
Be at the Kenai Fjords tours office between 11:30-11:45am, you
can leave the car in the Kenai Fjords lot while you are gone.
Catch the Kenai Fjords transfer to Fox Island to stay
at the Wilderness Lodge for 2 nights of total rustic
relaxation in homey cabins. All meals are included. A hiking
trail about 2 hrs long offers a great view from the top. Sea
kayaking is available with an experienced naturalist guide.
Enjoy total peace and relaxation, bring a good book.
Day 16
Join Kenai Fjord tour and continue with the group
back to Seward. Pick up the car you left there and do the return
drive to Anchorage (approximately 6:30pm arrival in Seward with
a 3-hour drive to Anchorage.)
Day 16
1 night Anchorage at a bed and breakfast. Take
the car back to the airport. The B&B offers courtesy transfers
to and from the airport.
Day 17
Leave Anchorage to Nome on Alaska Airlines morning flight, all day full of sightseeing, blanket toss, cultural
crafts, and the Arctic ocean viewing. Overnight and experience the midnight sun! Return on the morning flight to Anchorage at
10:30am arrive at 1:18pm.
Day 18,19
1 night at the bed and breakfast back in Anchorage. Courtesy
airport transfer. Anchorage is Alaska's largest city, with a
huge variety of activities and cultural information. The Alaska
Aviation Heritage Museum has a wonderful exhibit about the pioneers
in Alaska aviation. The dining opportunities range from quick
food to gourmet fare. Try the South Side Bistro for excellent
food at a reasonable price. Spend all day the next day in Anchorage. Depart after midnight
for the least expensive airfare.
The grand total for all the above itinerary is $4599 - $4959 per person with variation depending on budget, moderate or deluxe accommodations (in towns where there is a choice!) including the car rental (except insurance and gas), all accommodations, airfare, listed tours and tax.
If your time is limited:
The Inside Passage. Stop in Ketchikan with a Misty
Fjords trip, Wrangell with a Stikine River or Anan Bear Observatory
trip, Glacier Bay with glacier cruise, Juneau, Skagway with
the White Pass train trip and Sitka with the St. Lazaria excursion,
total of 8 nights, including accommodations, air, and the excursion
is listed for $2379.00 per person. Car recommended for Juneau
sightseeing on own.
Central/Interior Alaska - Fly Seattle to Anchorage
and pick up a motorhome for one week, explore central Alaska
on your own with recommendations to see Seward, Homer and Denali
at your leisure. $1109 - 1449 per person depending on motorhome size. We suggest prebooking any excursions such as the Kenai Fjords tour and Denali wildlife. |
